Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Hallie Shoffner in Arkansas has donated repeatedly to national Democrats, including Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, while publicly supporting steps to curb red meat consumption as a way to combat climate change.
While Shoffner runs as an “aw shux” farmer who fights for rural Arkansas, she endorsed AOC’s woke Green New Deal restrictions on consuming red meat and would be another vote for Chuck Schumer’s far-left agenda, which includes “Getting Trump,” keeping the borders open, adding an untold number of Supreme Court Justices, and adding two new states to give Democrats a generational stranglehold on power.
Before launching her Senate campaign, Shoffner positioned herself on the opposite side of most Arkansas voters on a range of issues.
In 2023, Shoffner published an op-ed titled “What to Do About Climate Anxiety” urging Americans to eat less meat because cow farts cause climate change. In the piece, she wrote:
“Consider eating less meat: For many of us, giving up our favorite hamburger or steak dinner is a non-starter. Fortunately, we don’t have to cut these items completely from our diets to make a difference. Data shows that reducing our meat consumption by a small amount—even down to once or twice a week—can significantly help reduce methane emissions.”
What kind of farmer supports eating less red meat? What kind of farmer is obsessed with cow farts?
Shoffner once told the elite Yale University Climate Connections that climate change is the hardest thing farmers face:
“And it’s not that it’s extreme devastation in any one year. It certainly can be that. But climate change for farmers is more like getting a wound and never letting it heal.”
Yale Climate Connections reported Shoffner’s warning that climate change is difficult for farmers because it is “more like getting a wound and never letting it heal.” THV11 also quoted Shoffner saying Arkansas farmers and ranchers were “bearing the brunt” of climate change, and that farmers “did not have the luxury of ignoring climate change.”
Shoffner spends more time ranting about climate change on Instagram than actually farming. In a 2022 Garden & Gun “Seed of Change” profile, Shoffner discussed “biblical events” caused by climate change affecting farmers by pointing out she has to deal with typical Arkansas weather – heat, droughts, and thunderstorms. She claimed climate change is the “biggest threat facing farmers.”
Seriously?
Shoffner’s far-left climate record fits her donation history. Shoffner made more than two dozen contributions to the Harris and Biden campaigns, including four contributions in the 2024 cycle totaling $120. She also gave $185 to Warren’s 2020 presidential bid, $15 to Ocasio-Cortez and $70 to Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona.
Everyone Shoffner gives money to supports Green New Deal-like policies that call for a reduction in red meat consumption to stop cow farts from causing climate change. In 2019, Kamala Harris told CNN:
“And I think that um but there has to be also what we do in terms of creating incentives that we will eat in a healthy way that we will encourage moderation and that we will be educated about the effect of our eating habits on our environment and we have to do a much better job of that and the government has to do a much better job of that.”
Elizabeth Warren’s “Tackling the Climate Crisis Head On” plan published on her official U.S. Senate website admits to supporting policies that tax farms with cattle:
“And she’ll level the playing field for family farmers by holding Big Ag accountable – closing the loopholes industrial livestock operations use to pollute our environment, and beefing up enforcement of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts against them to make them pay for the full costs of the environmental damage they wreak. And Elizabeth will use every tool she has to break up big agribusinesses and reverse anti-competitive mergers.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the loudest national promoters of Green New Deal policies, advised students in 2019 to skip meat and dairy for a meal as one way to combat climate change. She also told young people to switch from disposable razors to safety razors. Ocasio-Cortez even said breakfast was easiest for her because she eats a banana and peanut butter.
Shoffner may present herself to Arkansas voters as an American farmer first, but her record shows a Senate candidate who has embraced climate messaging that forces Americans to change their diets, reduce meat consumption, and accept policies that harm farmers.
Arkansas is one of the most agricultural states in America. Its farmers and ranchers know what it means to deal with heat, drought, storms, supply costs, fuel prices, fertilizer prices, volatile commodity markets, and federal regulations. They do not need a radical left Senate candidate importing the same climate framework that elected Democrats use to justify targeting livestock, energy, transportation, and family farms.
Shoffner’s record shows a Democrat Senate candidate aligned with the woke Green New Deal of Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
And for Arkansas voters, that dog just don’t hunt!
