Olivia Troye, a top former advisor to Mike Pence, is now running for Congress as a Democrat in Virginia’s newly redrawn 7th District. The timing isn’t a coincidence. It’s a cynical political opportunity created by the most aggressive gerrymandering effort in the country.
Troye has made her campaign about one thing: attacking President Donald Trump. Her launch video leans entirely on anti-Trump messaging, featuring imagery of Barack Hussein Obama and footage from the Democrat National Convention. She openly boasts about voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and claims she witnessed “evil” inside the Trump White House.
“How did this little girl from a Texas border town land on the biggest stage in the world taking on Donald Trump?”She continues speaking in the video: “In 2016, I voted for Hillary. But after Trump won, I kept showing up to work because serving your country isn’t supposed to be partisan. The evil I saw in that White House was staggering. In 2020, I finally said, ‘Enough.’ And they came for me… Trump doesn’t scare me. I took him on when it mattered the most, and I’m ready to do it again.”
That’s the brand she’s selling to leftists in Northern Virginia. Troye was once a trusted Pence insider, working on the White House Coronavirus Task Force and national security matters.
In 2020, Miles Taylor, the so-called “Anonymous” author who publicly attacked the Trump administration, went on CNN and made it clear that Pence himself supported Troye’s work, calling her “incredible” during a direct conversation in the West Wing. In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, he said:
“Chris, I’m going to tell you my response. I had lunch with the Vice President of the United States, in the West Wing of the White House, and he told me, to my face, ‘Olivia Troye is doing an incredible job as my Homeland Security Adviser.’”
Taylor, who has compared the Republican Party to ISIS and labeled it the top national security threat to the United States, represents the same anti-Trump faction Troye is now aligned with politically.
Troye has repeatedly attacked President Trump, mocked his faith, and described the MAGA movement as “evil.” She has framed her congressional run as a continuation of her efforts to oppose Trump politically, saying she is running because “things are worse than ever.”
And now, she’s doing it in a district that was engineered to benefit Democrats. Virginia’s 7th District is one of the most aggressively redrawn districts in the state. The map stretches across multiple regions in a bizarre, cross-shaped configuration that pulls in heavily Democrat areas from Northern Virginia while stitching together distant rural counties.
We previously exposed how Pence-connected figures in Indiana, including longtime ally and State Treasurer Daniel Elliott, failed to push back against Democrat and RINO efforts during their own redistricting fight. That decision helped weaken Republican positioning in the state.
Troye herself even celebrated the outcome, claiming that Democrats had successfully stopped what she called a “corrupt” Trump-backed redistricting effort, while positioning her campaign as part of that broader fight.
At the same time, she continues to amplify anti-Trump messaging, framing herself as someone who “took him on” inside the administration and is ready to do it again from Congress. In reality, her campaign only exists because Democrats rigged the map in Virginia, at least until a judge throws it out.
Troye is another RINO operative from Mike Pence’s orbit who has turned on President Trump to boost her profile with Democrats. But Democrats will never love her and to Republicans, she’s a traitor.
The sooner Virginia’s illegal congressional map gets overturned by the Supreme Court of Virginia, the sooner vapid opportunists like Troye go back to wherever it is they came from.
