Marty O’Donnell, the longtime Halo video game composer now running for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd District, is suddenly branding himself as a pro-Trump, America First conservative. He’s even gone so far as to publicly declare that he’ll drop out of the 2026 Congressional race if President Donald Trump doesn’t endorse him.
But behind his carefully curated MAGA rebrand lies a long trail of deleted tweets, anti-Trump rhetoric, and policy positions that directly contradict everything President Trump stands for.
And the receipts are damning.
O’Donnell’s anti-Trump history isn’t just concerning, it’s disqualifying.
During the height of the 2016 presidential election, when Trump was battling the full weight of the political establishment, media class, and the Clinton machine, O’Donnell wasn’t standing with Trump. He was actively encouraging his sizable fanbase to defect.
In October 2016, O’Donnell urged voters to abandon both major candidates, writing:
“The cool thing about elections in the US is that if you don’t like any of the candidates you can write in the name of someone you DO like.”
At a moment when unity mattered most, O’Donnell was pushing third-party protest voting, a move that objectively helped Hillary Clinton.
From 2016 through Trump’s first term, O’Donnell repeatedly attacked President Trump on social media, attacks he has since quietly scrubbed as he attempts to reinvent himself for a Republican primary electorate.
In February 2016, O’Donnell flatly declared:
“Donald Trump is an idiot. Period.”
By November 2017, after Trump had already won and begun dismantling Obama-era policies, O’Donnell doubled down, posting:
“Loathe Trump and absolutely abhor the Clintons. Tolerate Ron and Rand Paul.”
Even after Trump took office, O’Donnell went out of his way to distance himself from the President, writing in November 2018:
“Don’t conflate me with Trump.”
This was textbook Trump Derangement Syndrome. And the policy gaps are just as bad.
Leaked audio from a 2024 UNLV College Republicans meeting reveals O’Donnell admitted he would “probably do nothing” in Congress to stop biological males from competing in women’s sports — an issue President Trump has repeatedly called common sense and non-negotiable. The policy of banning biological men from competing in women’s sports is an issue President Trump calls “common sense.”
That position alone places O’Donnell squarely outside the MAGA movement.
The pattern of O’Donnell undermining President Trump and MAGA policies stretches back even further. In July 2012, O’Donnell appeared to support Barack Hussein Obama’s tax hikes, posting:
“Another tax hike. Ok, it’s about time we all paid our fair share.”
That’s not conservative. That’s straight out of the Obama/Schumer playbook.
Even O’Donnell’s political spending raises red flags.
Despite amassing significant wealth from gaming royalties and legal settlements, Federal Election Commission records show O’Donnell gave nothing to President Trump’s campaigns in 2016, 2020, or 2024, when Donald Trump actually needed support.
Only after Trump won did O’Donnell open his wallet, cutting a $50,000 check to the 2025 Trump–Vance Inaugural Committee.
In other words: no loyalty during the fight, just a check once victory was secured for his own opportunistic and selfish reasons, all while planning a Congressional campaign and a phony MAGA rebrand.
Now, O’Donnell claims he’ll drop out of the 2026 race if Trump doesn’t endorse him. But endorsements aren’t participation trophies. They’re earned through years of consistency, loyalty, and alignment, not opportunistic rebranding and deleted tweets.
Marty O’Donnell’s record tells the truth he’s trying to bury. He’s not a MAGA fighter. He’s a late-stage convert hoping voters won’t look too closely at his past.
President Trump should do exactly that, look closely, and withhold any endorsement of Marty O’Donnell. Nevada doesn’t need another RINO trying to ride Trump’s coattails and hijack the MAGA movement without ever having fought for it or been a Trump supporter to begin with.
