It all started when exclusive footage obtained by Laura Loomer revealed groups of Palestinians were arriving at major U.S. airports including Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, San Francisco International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport, with reports planning arrivals in Seattle, Dallas, and San Antonio. The videos depicted men and women disembarking from Qatar Airways flights, waving Palestinian flags. In some instances they engaged in chants and were greeted by people that looked eerily similar to pro-Hamas supporters wearing keffiyehs and all.
The Trump administration has established a clear border policy aimed at restricting entry from regions associated with terrorism. Gaza, governed by Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, has long been identified as a high-risk area for terrorism. In a National Security Presidential Memorandum issued on February 4, 2025, the White House reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism, noting that “Iran remains the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and has aided Hezbollah, Hamas.”
NGO Ties Prompt Security Questions
The flights transporting the Palestinian refugees into the United States were facilitated by Heal Palestine, an organization claiming to provide “humanitarian aid”, including “medical evacuations” for Palestinians. Founded by Steve Sosebee, the group has been involved in efforts to rebuild the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, a facility that the Israel Defense Forces reported in 2023 as being used by Hamas as a command center atop a tunnel network.
Steve Sosebee’s background includes affiliations with Palestinian NGOs previously linked to the Holy Land Foundation, a U.S.based charity shut down in 2001 for funneling funds to Hamas. The Holy Land Foundation case marked the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history. Heal Palestine describes itself as orchestrating the “largest evacuation of Palestinians in Gaza to the US” and has utilized cryptocurrency for fundraising, raising questions about transparency and potential oversight.
The Trump administration and Secretary of State Marco Rubio deserve recognition for their rapid response in addressing the Palestinian visa crisis uncovered by Loomer.
