WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressional Democrats escalated their support for pro-open border activism Monday as Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), the ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, joined a sidewalk protest outside the Department of Justice alongside groups defending the recent open-border riots in Los Angeles.
On June 15, the day after President Trump celebrated the 250 year anniversary of the Army, by holding a well-attended and patriotic military parade in D.C., Rep. Jayapal doubled down on her support of illegals. Jayapal was not even born in the U.S., she was born in Indian. Many critics commented on the post calling out the Congresswoman for advocating for illegals and urging her to return to India.
The demonstration, organized by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), was also attended by members of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the National Education Association (NEA), and CASA. All are organizations known for their opposition to President Donald J. Trump’s immigration agenda and the America First movement. Rep. Pramila Jayapal took a prominent role at the protest in support of the lawless LA riots.
Jayapal Demands End to ICE Raids
Rep. Jayapal played a prominent role at the protest, calling for an end to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. Speaking in front of the SEIU-led crowd, she declared:
“It’s time to end the ICE raids.”
The rally was staged in response to the arrest of SEIU leader David Huerta, who was taken into custody during anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles. Jayapal’s remarks followed a pattern of Democrat lawmakers increasingly aligning with far-left, open-border activists.

Loomer Unleashed Confronts Jayapal Over Support for Rioters
Shortly after Jayapal’s speech, Loomer Unleashed confronted her, questioning why Congressional Democrats were supporting violent rioters tied to the open-border movement. In response, SEIU-affiliated protesters blocked Loomer Unleashed reporters from further engagement.
CASA Members Previously Linked to ANTIFA Marches Near White House
Members of CASA, dressed in red shirts, were seen throughout the rally. Loomer Unleashed previously documented CASA’s involvement in a May Day anti-Trump protest near the White House, where activists marched alongside ANTIFA and received public endorsements from Democrat lawmakers, including Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI).

CASA’s Anti-ICE Agenda Echoed in Supreme Court Protests
CASA activists have also appeared outside the U.S. Supreme Court, where they clashed with Loomer Unleashed reporters questioning their demands. Nancy Pelosi was asked why Congressional Democrats continue to push for dangerous and unpopular open-border policies. A CASA protester blocked the camera while Pelosi refused to answer.

CASA’s official website describes ICE as “a rogue agency” and calls for its complete dismantling, claiming it has caused “immense harm to our communities” and spurred the modern Sanctuary Movement.
Teachers’ Unions Also Deeply Involved in Anti-ICE Protests
Monday’s rally also featured representatives from AFT and NEA—both of which have backed Democrat leadership, including failed 2024 presidential candidate and former absentee Border Czar Kamala Harris. In their official endorsement, AFT praised Harris for her commitment to “unions, democracy, public education, and accessible healthcare.”

Post-Rally Chaos and Upcoming Anti-Trump Protests
Following Jayapal’s appearance, protesters briefly blocked intersections near the DOJ and FBI buildings before dispersing.
Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. On Tuesday, June 10, the Party for Socialism and Liberation will hold an “Emergency Protest” targeting ICE. This group has prior ties to pro-Hamas figure Elias Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Refuse Fascism has announced plans on social media to bus protesters into D.C. for Saturday’s anti-Trump demonstration, which they claim will oppose “Trump’s military parade.”

Democrats Enable Lawlessness and Border Chaos
The growing alliance between Congressional Democrats, union-backed protestors, and pro-illegal immigration groups like CASA signals a clear embrace of chaos over enforcement. The Los Angeles riots and subsequent demonstrations in Washington, D.C., mark a flashpoint in American history and the national debate over immigration—one for which elected Democrats now bear full responsibility.
