A bipartisan effort to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization is gaining traction in Congress, bolstered by the advocacy and persistent efforts of investigative journalist Laura Loomer. On Tuesday, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced the Muslim Brotherhood Is a Terrorist Organization Act, citing national security concerns. Mace’s announcement follows a Capitol Hill meeting with Loomer, during which the pair discussed the group’s radical Islamist ties and recent threats to public safety.
The legislation comes in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, where an illegal undocumented immigrant from Egypt—identified as a Muslim Brotherhood member—firebombed a Jewish rally.

“This terrorist praised the Muslim Brotherhood. Then he firebombed Americans,” Mace posted on X. “Today we introduced the Muslim Brotherhood Is a Terrorist Organization Act to stop radical Islam before it turns violent on our streets.”
Bipartisan Effort to Designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Terrorist Organization
On Tuesday, the Congresswoman also released an official press release, following her introduction of the bill, affirming the need for this effort to pass congress. “The Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t just support terrorism, it inspires it.” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “President Trump was right when he said the Muslim Brotherhood is a threat to global security, and it’s long past time we call them what they are: terrorists.”
Rep. Moskowitz, a Democrat from Florida, also confirmed to Loomer Unleashed that he plans to file legislation using similar language from a bill previously introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). Moskowitz expressed interest in collaborating with Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), who has championed similar measures in past sessions.
“Ted Cruz has a bill. I’m probably going to file the same language—maybe with Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart—so we can make it bipartisan,” Moskowitz said.
Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) has also voiced plans to introduce parallel legislation. Fine, who met with Loomer last week, has been an outspoken critic of radical Islamic influence in the United States. Fine took to Fox News to announce his support for a bill designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization after meeting with Loomer to discuss the growing national security concern posed by members of this radical organization.
Democrat Holdouts: Waters, Lieu, and Raskin Remain Silent
Despite the emerging bipartisan consensus, several prominent Democrats remain silent. Last week, Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), and Jamie Raskin (D-MD) declined to comment when asked by Loomer whether they support designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group.
Rep. Raskin dodged the question entirely, quickly darting up flights of stairs away from Loomer. Meanwhile, Rep. Lieu—who has previously spoken at events tied to Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated groups—claimed he was unfamiliar with the organization.
Rep. Waters, who has recently supported pro-open border protests in Los Angeles that devolved into riots, also declined to address the Muslim Brotherhood’s ties to terrorism. Her silence is notable, as these anti-ICE demonstrations she supports have frequently featured pro-Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood propaganda.

America may soon join other countries in formally recognizing the Muslim Brotherhood as the terrorist organization, joining the ranks of other countries like the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia that have already designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
