The Department of Homeland Security’s official X account labeled the incident an “assault.” Despite the controversy, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has publicly defended Mclver.
Mclver represents a deep-blue district in New Jersey and rose to prominence in 2024 after receiving key endorsements from U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Governor Phil Murphy during the Democrat primary. The $30,000 total stands out when compared to contributions from other Democrat House members, such as Rep. Eric Swalwell, who has contributed just $10,000 to the DCCC this year. With McIver’s campaign reporting raising only $65,143.34 in total funds for 2025, her decision to allocate nearly half of her available resources to the DCCC has sparked speculation over whether she believed she could fundraise off of her violent confrontation with the Trump administration.
DCCC Fueled by Far-Left Operatives
The DCCC is being bankrolled by rage-fueled House Democrats, with FEC records revealing that Democrat Representative Jasmine Crockett has contributed $50,000 to the organization so far this year. These contributions from far-left members of Congress are significant, given that the bulk of the DCCC’s resources are directed toward competitive House races—where Democrat candidates typically attempt to portray themselves as moderates to unseat Republicans.
Jeffries Backs McIver, Blames ICE
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has defended Rep. LaMonica McIver following her assault on an ICE agent, attempting to shift blame onto the federal agents involved. In a statement, Jeffries said, “I thank Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez, and LaMonica McIver for showing up, standing up, and speaking out today in Newark, along with Mayor Ras Baraka… The masked agents who physically accosted two Congresswomen must be identified immediately and any trumped-up charges against Mayor Baraka dropped.”

Last winter, Murphy stated, “I don’t want to get into too much detail, but there’s someone in our broader universe whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to. And we said, ‘you know what?
