Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reveal that Spike Buckley, co-founder of the environmental organization One Earth, made a significant donation to Indivisible Action, a political action committee (PAC) tied to the broader Indivisible network. According to One Earth’s website, the group is recognized as a “Clinton Global Initiative 2023 Commitment Maker.” Meanwhile, Indivisible is actively involved in organizing protests targeting Tesla, scheduled for March 29th as part of a coordinated campaign within the Indivisible network.
FEC filings show that Buckley contributed $100,000 to Indivisible Action in July 2024, marking one of the PAC’s larger individual donations that year. On July 10, 2024, Indivisible Action, in turn, transferred $750,000 to the Indivisible Project, another arm of the network, according to FEC reports. One Earth, which Buckley co-founded, describes its mission as turning “knowledge into action by identifying and elevating the most effective climate and biodiversity solutions to shape policy, guide investments, support grassroots organizations, and galvanize a global movement dedicated to regenerating our one [Earth].”
Indivisible Action’s political activities during the 2024 election cycle further highlight its priorities. FEC records indicate the PAC spent $44,810.05 on September 16, 2024, and an additional $37,908.24 on September 17, 2024, to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign during the height of the election season. The group also explicitly positioned itself in opposition to President Donald Trump, a stance consistent with its broader advocacy efforts.
The Indivisible network’s collaboration with other activist groups, including The Sunrise Movement, has drawn attention as both organizations prepare for the upcoming Tesla protests. The Sunrise Movement’s D.C. mobilization page prominently features the logo of the “SWIM Statewide Indivisible Michigan Chapter,” raising questions about why a Michigan-based chapter’s branding appears on a site promoting events in Washington, D.C.
Earlier this month, The Sunrise Movement joined forces with Planet Over Profit and the Hack Club to stage demonstrations at a Tesla showroom in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, where reports of vandalism emerged. Notably, the Hack Club—a global nonprofit focused on supporting high school coding programs—received $4 million from the Musk Foundation in 2023, according to the foundation’s Form 990 filing. These protests were coordinated through ActionNetwork.org, a platform commonly used by activist groups.
The Sunrise Movement has also been active in Washington, D.C., organizing events attended by prominent Democratic figures. On March 13, 2025, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten spoke at an anti-Trump protest outside the U.S. Department of Education, an event organized by The Sunrise Movement. The coordinated efforts of The Sunrise Movement and Indivisible groups point to a well-organized campaign leading up to the Tesla “takedown” protests scheduled for Saturday, March 29th as both organizations have a documented history of staging anti-Trump and anti-Elon Musk demonstrations in major cities, including Washington, D.C., and New York.
