Alaska’s Senator Lisa Murkowski announced on Thursday that she will vote against confirming Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. Murkowski must have forgotten that President Trump won her state last November by a 54%-41% margin. Murkowski’s opposition to Hegseth is unsurprising, as Murkowski informed Loomer Unleashed in December that she was not committed to supporting Kash Patel as Trump’s FBI Director. It is interesting that Murkowski is uncommitted to supporting President Trump’s national security nominees because Murkowski has a history of embracing open border policies. Loomer Unleashed has led the charge in exposing that saving Kamala Harris’s open borders is the primary reason for the Senate Democrats’ obstruction of President Trump’s national security nominees. It is sad that Lisa Murkowski has chosen to join the Senate Democrats’ obstruction efforts.
Lisa Murkowski used unfounded claims against Pete Hegseth and personal family matters, which have no bearing on Hegseth’s abilities to perform the job as Secretary of Defense, as reasoning to oppose Pete Hegseth’s confirmation. Murkowski wrote on X, “While the allegations of sexual assault and excessive drinking do nothing to quiet my concerns, the past behaviors Mr. Hegseth has admitted to, including infidelity on multiple occasions, demonstrate a lack of judgment that is unbecoming of someone who would lead our armed forces. These behaviors starkly contrast the values and discipline expected of servicemembers. Men and women in uniform are held accountable for such actions.”
Murkowski’s opposition to Hegseth is unsurprising. Last month, Loomer Unleashed asked Murkowski, “Hello, Senator Murkowski. Will you be voting to confirm Kash Patel as President Trump’s FBI Director?”
Senator Murkowski responded, “Sir, that is months away. I have not had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Patel. Anyone asking me for votes needs to check in with me in the new year.”
It is interesting that Murkowski is uncommitted to supporting President Trump’s national security nominees because Murkowski has a history of embracing open border policies. In March 2024, Lisa Murkowski was the only GOP Senator to vote for Senator Bill Hagerty’s amendment, which stated that illegal immigrants should not be counted in the United States census. The data from the United States Census is used to allocate votes to the Electoral College and the United States House of Representatives seats. So, according to her voting record, Murkowski wants illegal immigrants to decide Presidential elections and to have a say in who controls the United States House.
Murkowski was also the only Republican in the Senate to vote “Yeah” on advancing Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Chuck Schumer’s amnesty bill disguised as a “border bill.”
Loomer Unleashed has led the charge in exposing that saving Kamala Harris’s open borders is the primary reason for the Senate Democrats’ obstruction of President Trump’s national security nominees. On Wednesday, Amy Klobuchar, the third-ranked Senate Democrat, sprinted into her committee hearing after Loomer Unleashed asked her, “Why is the Senate Democrat Leadership slow-walking President Trump’s Nominees confirmation floor votes?”
Last week, Senate Armed Services Member Elizabeth Warren refused to answer Loomer Unleashed’s question, “What qualifies you to vote against Pete Hegseth when you support dangerous open border policies?”
It is sad that Lisa Murkowski has chosen to support open borders over her voters’ wishes. That said, it is more important than ever for Alaska Trump supporters to call Murkowski’s office and demand she support President Trump’s remaining nominees.
