Just before Christmas, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris commuted the death sentence of 37 death row inmates. One of the murderers who had their sentence commuted by Biden was Jorge Avila-Torrez, who raped and murdered two little girls and then murdered a female Naval officer at Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall. It is important to note that radical far-left Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who is a member of AOC’s “Squad,” praised Biden’s actions and took credit for ordering Biden to commute the death sentences. Even on their way out of power, Democrats are sticking to their rules for thee but not for me policies.
One of the murderers and rapists who had their death sentence commuted by Joe Biden was Jorge Avila-Torrez, who committed murder on Mother’s Day, 2005. On May 8th, 2005, Eight-year-old Laura Hobbs and nine-year-old Krystal Tobias went out to play on their bicycles but didn’t come home by nightfall. Hobbs’s father found the little girls bodies the following day. Authorities also concluded that Torrez raped Laura Hoobs and Krystal Tobias.
Sadly, Laura Hobbs and Krystal Tobias were not the only people Jorge Avila-Torrez murdered. In 2009, Torres also murdered a female Naval officer at Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall.
In a statement referring to the death penalty as “racist” radical far-left Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley praised Biden’s actions, “The death penalty is a racist, flawed, and fundamentally unjust punishment that has no place in any society. For far too long, it has been disproportionately weaponized against Black and brown communities, exacerbated systemic inequities, and failed to make America any safer—which is why we’ve urged the president for years to work with us to abolish the federal death penalty. By taking this historic action, President Biden is demonstrating the type of moral leadership this moment demands.”
Pressley’s statement also inferred that Biden was following her orders to cancel the death sentences of 37 murderers, “Earlier this month, Congresswoman Pressley held a press conference to renew her calls for President Biden to use his clemency authority to commute the death sentences of the individuals on federal death row and resentence them to a prison term before leaving office.”
President Trump posted on Truth Social about Biden’s lawless pardons and commuted sentences, “Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country. When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this. Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!”
In another post regarding Biden’s commuted sentences, President Trump promised to enforce America’s laws, writing, “As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!”
It is telling that even on their way out of power, elected Democrats are still enforcing their lawless and dangerous policies on the American people.
