News of the attempted assassination against President Trump broke at around 2:30 pm Eastern Time on Sunday. Senator Baldwin faces reelection in November and is running in a key battleground state. These factors make it critical for voters to know where Baldwin stands on political violence. Baldwin’s delayed response on X regarding the attempted assassination of President Trump is very telling because Baldwin’s X history shows the Wisconsin Senator has referred to Trump as a “threat to democracy” numerous times. The suspected Trump assassin, Ryan Ruth, posted on his X account that Trump was a “threat to democracy.” Tammy Baldwin’s false rhetoric regarding Trump being a “threat to democracy” shows Baldwin is a committed follower of her bosses, Kamala Harris and Chuck Schumer.

Senator Baldwin’s delayed response on X regarding condemning the attempted assassination of President Trump is very telling because Baldwin’s X history shows the Wisconsin Senator has referred to Trump as a “threat to democracy” numerous times. Baldwin once posted to X a speech she gave on the United States Senate floor where she said, “Trump not only incited a violent insurrection on January 6, 2021, he has also incited for the last year an ongoing attack on voting rights, free and fair elections, and our Democracy. We need to put an end to the Big Lie once and for all.”
Senator Baldwin’s lack of a press release condemning the attempted assassination of President Trump is also quite telling, as Baldwin previously released a press statement calling for President Trump to be removed via the 25th Amendment. Baldwin’s press release partially read,”This attack on our democracy makes it clear he has broken his oath to support and defend the Constitution, and that he is unfit to serve. I join the bipartisan calls for Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment so that the American people can have confidence that there will be a peaceful transition of power in the few remaining days of this disgraceful and dangerous presidency.”
