FL State Senate Candidate Tom Leek Lies About His Record Supporting Illegal Immigrants

Nothing is worse than a politician who outright lies to his voters. Sadly, for Florida State Seven Senate voters, one of their candidates, Tom Leek, fits this mold. Friends of Tom Leek, a PAC supporting Leek, recently said, “Tom Leek isn’t pro-illegal immigration.” However, facts point otherwise, as Leek was the House Appropriations Chair in the Florida State House during his time as a Florida State Representative. As House Appropriations Chair, Leek had immense power over the State of Florida’s budget. Instead of using the power of the purse to fund conservative policy, Leek instead approved budgets that funded free higher education for illegal immigrants. Leek has been a member of the Florida State House since 2018. Elected officials in the state of Florida did not attempt to strip funding of free education for illegal immigrants from the state budget until 2023, and of course, Leek was not a part of the effort to remove the clause. Leek’s support for illegal immigrants has not gone unnoticed, as President Trump has endorsed Leek’s opponent, David Shoar, who has promised a crackdown on illegal immigration. The facts are clear: Tom Leek’s liberal immigration views are not in lockstep with Florida State Senate Seven values.

Florida House of Representatives Records shows that Tom Leek is the Chair of the Appropriations Committee and Joint Legislative Budget Commission, meaning Leek has immense power over the Florida State Budget. Instead of using the power of the purse to fund conservative policy, Leek instead approved budgets that funded free higher education for illegal immigrants.

Leek has been a member of the Florida State House since 2018. Elected officials in the state of Florida did not attempt to strip funding of free education for illegal immigrants from the state budget until 2023, and of course, Leek was not a part of the effort to remove the clause. Liberals loved the fact that Leek’s budgets funded free college for illegal immigrants as the group Immigration Impact criticized Florida’s 2023 attempts to strip the provision from Leek’s budgets with an article titled, “Florida Has Everything to Lose If It Repeals In-State Tuition for Undocumented Students.”

Leek’s support for illegal immigrants has not gone unnoticed as President Trump has endorsed Leek’s GOP Primary Opponent David Shoar. President Trump’s TruthSocial endorsement read, “David Shoar is a tremendous America First Patriot who is running to represent the incredible people of Florida’s 7th State Senate District!”

The facts are clear that Tom Leek is out of step with Florida values. Florida State Senate Seven voters must ensure that Leek is overwhelmingly defeated at the ballot box.
