Virginia United States Senate Candidate Scott Parkinson is putting on quite a show by attempting to convince Virginia voters that he supports President Trump when his past shows a completely different story. In late April, Parkinson donated to the Republican Party of Virginia INC. Parkinson listed his employer on the donation form as “Plug for Growth.” In reality, Parkinson is Vice President of Government Affairs for Club for Growth, an organization that spent millions against President Trump during the Iowa Caucus. Parkinson has also written articles for Club for Growth criticizing President Trump’s America First tariffs. It’s no mystery why Parkinson “misspelled” “Club for Growth” on his latest FEC donation form. President Trump has endorsed Hung Cao in the Virginia United States Senate race.
FEC records show that on April 18th, 2024, two months before the Virginia United States Senate GOP Primary, Scott Parkinson donated to the Republican Party of Virginia INC. Under the employer section, Parkinson wrote, “Plug for Growth.” It’s important to note that Parkinson correctly spelled “Club for Growth” in his public political donations in 2022 and 2020.
One reason Parkinson may have “misspelled” Club for Growth on an FEC form that he knew would be released close to the election is because Club for Growth spent millions against President Trump during the Iowa Caucus. Parkinson is smart enough to understand that this fact would anger many Virginia GOP voters.
Another reason Parkinson would want to conceal his work for Club for Growth from Virginia’s GOP voters is that during President Trump’s first term, Parkinson and the Club for Growth worked with Never Trump U.S. Senators Pat Toomey, Ben Sasse, and Democrat United States Senators Mark Warner and Maggie Hassan to limit President Trump’s trade authority. In an article published on Club for Growth’s website, Parkinson wrote, “We applaud Senators Toomey (R-PA), Warner (D-VA), Sasse (R-NE), and Hassan (D-NH) along with Representatives Gallagher (R-WI), Kind (D-WI), LaHood (R-IL), and Panetta (D-CA) for their bipartisan leadership on this important issue. We strongly urge all Members of Congress to cosponsor the “Congressional Trade Authority Act” and work toward its swift enactment.”

Scott Parkinson is running from his past because he knows if Virginia GOP voters knew the whole truth about his policies, he would have no chance in the upcoming primary election. Virginia GOP voters must ensure Scott Parkinson is soundly defeated at the ballot box.
