Ron DeSantis called the police on journalist Laura Loomer and Marni Hockenberg, the daughter of Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Committee and a founding member of the Republican Jewish Coalition and Iowans Supporting Israel. DeSantis called the police on Loomer and Hockenberg because they attended his Ankeny, Iowa, event. Hockenberg will be caucusing for President Trump. Nikki Haley also called the police on Loomer over the weekend. Calling the police on journalists and activists to remove them from events is a tactic straight out of the DNC playbook.
The video of DeSantis staff calling the police on Loomer has over 4 million views. The event took place at Who’s on First” in Ankeny, Iowa. Loomer captioned the video, writing, “You know who isn’t “on 1st”? @RonDeSantis, because he’s not in 1st place in Iowa, and he doesn’t support the 1st Amendment! How ironic!”

Loomer was not the only one DeSantis called the police on at his Ankeny, Iowa event. Marni Hockenberg, the daughter of U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Committee and a founding member of the Republican Jewish Coalition and Iowans Supporting Israel was also asked by law enforcement to leave the event or face arrest.
Loomer interviewed Hockenberg, captioning the interview by writing, “My friend Marni is the daughter of Bud Hockenberg, the Chairman of Chuck Grassley’s Committee. Bud is also a founding member of the Republican Jewish Coalition, and a founder of Iowans Supporting Israel. At the event, DeSantis bragged about completing the “full Grassley” in Iowa. A full Grassley is when a candidate visits all of Iowas’s 99 counties. Guess who the Grassley is named after Ron? @ChuckGrassley. Next time, don’t Weaponize the Government against journalists and private citizens @RonDeSantis. You really stepped in it.”

DeSantis has been attempting to sell to Iowa voters that he is an ally of the GOP grassroots. The Florida Governor removing top Iowa grassroots GOP activists with threats of arrests puts to bed the notion that DeSantis cares about the GOP’s most active voters.
Nikki Haley also called the police on Loomer for attending her Iowa event. The video of Haley’s anti-First Amendment actions has over 12 million views.

DeSantis and Haley have embraced their inner Hillary Clinton, as Clinton is another former presidential candidate who kicked Loomer out of their event.
