I never wear one in my truck but I do in the wife’s newer car just to shut the stupid warning beeper off.

I’ve done that before with other cars but haven’t tried it yet with hers. It may sense it. I’m waiting for when the busy bodies put a sensor in the seat that kills the engine if you lift off the seat like with riding mowers. I bypassed that stupid thing on my Z turn.

My wife and I started to buckle up on purpose because we came to believe that seatbelts really do save lives and help prevent severe injuries. We bought a new car in the early 1970’s when the car makers had to install interlocks to prevent a car from being started unless seatbelts were fastened. A few weeks later as we were driving over to my parents new home, we got rear ended quite severely by a much heavier car and would likely have been thrown into or even thru the windshield IF we had NOT been wearing our seatbelts. It turned me into a believer long before mandatory seatbelt laws were put in place.

If the emergency brake is set in some Subaru models, it won’t release until the seat belt is fastened. Learned that the hard way.

That’s a decision with a mistake you only get to do ONCE.

I always wore a seatbelt since my first car was a 59 Impala with a very slick front bench seat. If I didn’t wear it, I would have to half my driving from the passenger seat. That lasted for a decade until I got married. My wife would get in to the car and wonder if she turned off the coffee pot, then go back in, turn it off, feed the cat etc. Once I caught her taking a nap.

After that I would jump out to do it myself after being tethered by my seatbelt. Very soon I stopped putting it on before I turned on the car.

’59 Impala didn’t have seat belts unless you or someone else installed them after market.

There’s a reasonable body of evidence that belts prevent serious injury or death in accidents.

That’s why I used to wear them occasionally.

The only large study was done in Denmark. You look up the results. Search “ Denmark mask study.” Fauci is a politician and a snake.He hasn’t touched an actual patient in decades. Back then we had to be very critical of studies. A main part of one’s training is spotting the weaknesses in any study. The FACTS are that lock-down masked states and countries don’t have any better outcomes. If masks helped why have “cases” skyrocketed since they were implemented? Wouldn’t one see the opposite trends? Hospitals have reported that 85% of Covid patients claim to wear masks all or most of the time. Wouldn’t you expect to see the ratios flipped if that were the case? The only large study that had a good control group was the Danish study and they held it because of politics and had to write a different made-up conclusion. But the study showed no difference between the control and the unmasked group in terms of Covid positivity. The only difference was that the masked group actually had to adhere to very strict mask discipline and even with the more scientific use of mask there was no difference. I believe there were 60000 or 8000 participants. A very large group.

And there it is. Losing the argument so you need to resort to profanity and insults. Typical. I DO wear a mask because I recognize that they are a talisman and reduce anxiety. They also help criminals from being recognized. But, yes, I wear one because private businesses require them and I respect their wishes. But those who are mask scold don’t even believe in them or they not go maskless when cameras are off. Journalists, Fauci himself, politicians – even the brilliant Biden who 5 minutes after signing his mask mandate on Fed property went to talk to the press at the Lincoln Memorial with – gasp! – no mask. If there are multiple studies about masks please share another one with me. I live in CA that has been masked and shut down since summer. Yet cases continue to rise. The correlation is negative. Another comparison of states shows that instituting masks has not made a difference between those who are masked and those who are not. The graphs seem to follow their similar courses. These are facts but I also support your right to wear a mask outside or wherever identity is not required.

I am 69 and had ChiCom-19 in September. I still wear a mask, but only on my chin. The companies where I shop law says you have to wear a mask on you face and I am pretty sure my chin is on my face. I have never been challenged doing this.
However if I am ever challenged, I will tell them if I cover my mouth I cannot breath and it fogs up my eyeglasses and if I take my glasses off I will be so blind I will walk into shelves knocking stuff off.

There was an interview on TV with a woman whose 90 something yo mother had Covid but completely recovered, but fell and died about a week later from the injuries that resulted from the fall. It’s even on the death certificate that the injuries from the fall is what killed her, but it was reported as a Covid death.
Some reports have the false cause of death due to Covid as high as 40%, which is completely believable since the CoronaVirus/Covid has been so highly politicized and has been used by leftist politicians to consolidate more despotic power and control. Nearly all, if not all of the edicts pertaining to the Covid “panademic” are unconstitional/anti-constitution.
The actual deaths from contracting the CoronaVirus is likely around 240,000 or less. Even those deaths are made up mostly of the elderly with already compromised health due to things like cardiac and pulmonary issues.

Actual deaths just broke 20,000 a week or so ago. . . according to the CDC and their 6% rule.

Canadian doctors come to the US to work in the emergency rooms because by October or so they have filled their rations and cannot work anymore. There is NO private insurance except in the US. Recently, a Canadian PM decided to have her breast cancer treatment in the US. My friend who is English got used to her heathcare here in the US. When they moved back to England she got frustrated trying to get basic gyn care so ended up buying a private health insurance plan so she didn’t have to rely on the NIH hospitals and doctors. There are two systems in England, as you know: private and public. Outcomes for nearly all problems are much better here. In Canada it is better for those who live in metro areas than everwhere else. You must get on a GP list to get any care especially, G0d forbid, waiting for a specialist. My niece is in her late 30s in Scotland (yes, half of my family are British) and has a terrible back problem. She recently visited and I asked her what the problem is and what do the scans say. Astoundingly, she said she has never been referred to get any, ANY scans. She has been treated entirely by a “physiotherapist” who told her they “weren’t there yet to need a scan” but was treating her with exercise. She has had to miss work and many functions with her young son due to her back going out. Yet several years into this the physiotherapist will not “authorize” a scan. When she came I offered to pay for a scan so she would have one, around $500 and she could get in immediately. She was confused by the very concept of just doing such a thing for herself and bypassing the NIH system. So, there are HUGE differences and I know about them very well, as my husband was Scottish.

As it is when doctors have worked the max number of hours they are allowed to bill they head south to work in American emergency rooms. We also have a lot more immigrants from 3rd world countries who cross over to obtain the free healthcare at emergency rooms. Women with risky pregnancies come over and appear at hospitals. That’s why so many hospitals on the border have gone under. I can’t blame them. Would YOU be comfortable with the “free” healthcare in Central and South America or across the oceans from some other crappy country? My very good friend was stationed in South America. His wife got into a serious car accident and was taken to a local hospital. She is from Marin County, California. She was HORRIFIED with the dirt, trash in the treatment rooms, doctors smoking, butt in mouth as they leaned over her. She called her husband who had the company he worked for air evac via helicopter her to the capital where there was an advanced private hospital. The experience so freaked her out that they made arrangements to be transferred back to the US as soon as was reasonable to do so.
