Tonight, I’ll be celebrating the first night of Hanukkah.

Regardless of your religion, the story of Hanukkah relates to what is happening in America today.

2,187 years ago, soldiers of a Syrian tyrant, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, marched into Jerusalem and ruthlessly killed thousands of people and desecrated the Second Temple.

The Jews rebelled against their tyrant ruler and after years of fighting and sacrifice, drove the Syrians from their home.

Upon their victory, they rededicated the Second Temple, lighting a menorah which burned for eight nights despite only having enough oil to burn for a single night.

Today, our fight is just beginning.

As the radical Left is taking over our nation and changing the fabric of our society, all we need to do is look back at history for inspiration of how we can ultimately win as long as we keep up the fight.

Tonight, I ask that you take a moment with your family to light a candle.

As you do, look into the eyes of your children, of your husband or wife. Look into the eyes of those you love to know what you’ll be fighting for and hold onto that moment.

Like the Jews who fought to take back their home 2,000 years ago, our struggle won’t be easy. We will have moments of sacrifice, but in the end, we will rejoice as we claim victory over those who oppress our freedom and prosperity.

With love and respect.

Happy Hanukkah,

Laura Loomer
