Longtime ally of President Donald J. Trump and political operative Roger Stone was convicted Friday on five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering, according to several reports.

Stone, whose home was subject to a pre-dawn raid by more than 20 FBI agents in January despite the fact that he wasn’t a flight risk, has spent the past 10 months fighting the charges against him. He has battled with Obama-appointed Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who has been notably impartial during the legal proceedings.

Stone was not convicted of any crimes that prove impropriety or “collusion” with the Russians on behalf of Trump’s candidacy in 2016, but rather process crimes stemming from the investigation of that alleged “collusion,” which came up empty. Now, the 67-year-old faces decades in prison.

The conservative punditry world is up in arms about Stone’s conviction, as is Trump himself.

“So they now convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come. Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself? Didn’t they lie? A double standard like never seen before in the history of our Country?” Trump asked on Twitter.

InfoWars’ Paul Joseph Watson chimed in.

“Roger Stone’s conviction is about sending a message for 2020. Don’t engage in journalism, don’t engage in opposition research. Don’t fight the deep state. Otherwise you’ll end up in prison for life or Epsteined,” he said.

“Epsteined” is a reference to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted pedophile who allegedly committed suicide in prison while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking charges. The circumstances surrounding his death have been questioned, and have even sparked one of the years more prolific memes: “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself.”

Watson wasn’t the only person to compare Stone’s case to Epstein’s.

“Roger Stone was prosecuted more aggressively than Jeffrey Epstein, that tells you all you need to know about the rule of law in America,” Mike Cernovich said.

Many conservative pundits, tired of taking a beatdown at the hands of a ruthless Department of Justice (DOJ) that has actively worked against Trump while ignoring obvious wrongdoing by the political left, are calling for Stone to be pardoned by Trump.

“Roger Stone is another good candidate for a pardon,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

Fitton’s organization has done a great deal of work on the case of Gen. Michael Flynn, convicted of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during the same investigation. But it was recently reported that the notes taken by investigators from their interviews with Flynn were manipulated after the interviews. The FBI was highly politicized against Trump during the bogus “collusion” investigation, which came up empty.

“Trump should nut up and pardon Roger Stone, Julian Assange and Gen. Flynn immediately. It’s getting ridiculous,” Cassandra Fairbanks said.

“Roger Stone deserves a pardon, Mr President,” Jack Posobiec said.

Stone is scheduled to be sentenced in February. He faces up to 20 years in prison if the harshest sentence is imposed.
