It’s been a bad week for Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is embattled in a racism scandal after three instances of him wearing brown or blackface were exposed over the past two days.
TIME first exposed him for dressing up like an Indian (the east Asian kind) at an “Arabian Nights” themed party.
He also dressed up in blackface at a high school talent show for a Jamaican-themed routine.
Global News reporter Mercedes Stephenson also published a photo of Trudeau in blackface from the early 90s.
The Prime Minister has apologized, but also said that he can’t recall how many times he’s worn blackface in his life.
“What I did hurt them, hurt people who shouldn’t have to face intolerance and discrimination because of their identity. This is something I deeply, deeply regret,” Trudeau said.
He also tweeted an apology.
Let’s go ahead and break this scandal down.
Trudeau, who self-identifies as a male feminist (it’s always the male feminists who are overcompensating for something), is a far-leftist, loves “social justice,” and constantly derides “racism” and other such racial bigotry that doesn’t really exist on any meaningful scale, simply in order to score political points. He’s hammered political opponents as “racists.” In fact, it’s been one of his most effective tools of forwarding his far-left political agenda.
This is the same guy who has lost count of how many times he’s worn blackface in his life.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Canada’s political spectrum, there’s our good friend Faith Goldy. She ran for Toronto Mayor in 2018. One of her campaign slogans was “Make Toronto Safe Again,” as the city (and the entirety of Canada) has been overrun with potentially dangerous, unvetted migrants from third-world nations. That was deemed “racist” by the media powers that be, and she was dubbed the “poster girl for white nationalism.”
Goldy’s reputation and her campaign for Mayor of Toronto was killed off by the leftist media. If the horrid things that have been written about Goldy for her relatively standard conservative views on immigration had been written about Trudeau for any reason, he probably would begin quivering in his loafers and retreat from public life forever.
Now, in the wake of his obviously racist scandal, we’ve been doing some mental math here at LauraLoomer.us, and it’s not adding up. According to our scoreboard, alleged racist and “alt-right” leader Faith Goldy has been involved in exactly zero blackface scandals. But we’ve got “non-racist” social justice ringleader Trudeau on the board for three blackface scandals – and counting.
You can probably see where we’re going with this. It always seems that the most racist people are the ones with white savior complexes, like Trudeau, while ordinary white conservatives earn that pejorative for no reason but their political beliefs.
The left wingers who dominate Canadian media, as they do here in the U.S., are now faced with a difficult conundrum. Do they protect racist Trudeau? Or will the social justice crowd eat its own?
On October 21, Canadians will head to the polls to elect a Prime Minister. Trudeau is facing down Andrew Scheer, the leader of the Conservative Party, who said he was “shocked and disappointed” to hear about Trudeau’s racism. It’s our understanding that Scheer is sort of an empty suit, and that his brand of conservatism matches that of a Jeb Bush, but hey, he can’t be worse than the guy who lectures about racism while actually being a racist.
