Odessa Police have not publicly disclosed the suspect’s identity

At least 20 people have been injured and five people are dead.

Two gunmen opened fire Saturday at a Home Depot hardware store in Odessa, Texas, leaving “multiple gunshot victims, according to law enforcement officials.

The suspect “hijacked a U.S. mail carrier truck,” and is still at large, the Odessa police announced on social media. “Subject (possibly 2) is currently driving around Odessa shooting at random people. At this time there are multiple victims.”

“The suspect just hijacked a US mail carrier truck and was last seen in the area of 38th and Walnut. Everyone is encouraged to get off the road and use extreme caution! All law enforcement is currently searching for the suspect and more information will be released as soon as it becomes available,” the Odessa police said in a Facebook post.

The University of Texas is now on lockdown and police are advising residents in the region to stay indoors.

According to CBS local affiliate KOSA, 20 people are suffering injuries from the shooting, while Midland Mayor Jerry Morales reports two people were fatally killed.

“They are shooting at random,” Morales told The New York Times. “We have two fatalities and up to 20 injuries.”
