Man Who Shot 6 Philadelphia Officers Is A Muslim

The man who shot six Philadelphia Police officers before barricading himself inside his home for hours on Wednesday night, leading to a tense standoff with police, reportedly attended a local mosque with jihadi ties and is a practicing Muslim.

“Maurice Hill, the criminal who wounded six police officers in a shootout in Philadelphia and was arrested after a seven-hour standoff, attended a radical mosque,” according to The Clarion Project.

Hill was known to attend the Masjid Ahlil Hadeeth Wal Athar Mosque and was living in a house that also housed several Muslim women and children on the second floor.

On a Facebook page belonging to Zainab Ali, Muslims can be seen discussing the shooter and the shooting among themselves, praising Allah that Hill was captured alive.

“Allah is giving him another chance”, one Muslim user posted.

After posting “Do you know he shot up a nursery”, a Muslim social media user on the same thread used the laughing emoji to laugh at the shooter’s horrific crime that injured six police officers.

“Clarion Intelligence Network has been aware through its sources that the area where the shootings took place is known for trafficking in guns, drugs and counterfeit items,” the report said.

The neighborhood reportedly harbors many violent gangs, including Islamic gangs. Shortly after the attack, Hill’s sister confirmed that he “occasionally attended” the mosque, though she did not provide any further details on his possible connections to radical extremism.

Hill shot six police officers as they attempted to serve a warrant on drug charges Wednesday evening.

While police have not yet confirmed whether Hill himself is a jihadist, or that he carried out his attack in the name of Islam- which appeared to be reactionary and unplanned – the Clarion Project explained how Islam’s anti-Western values can foment hostility towards police.

“However, Islamism’s inherent hostility towards Western governments and values fuels anti-police bigotry that can justify violence against law enforcement,” the report said. “Clarion’s sources stated that many of the mosque’s attendees view the police as oppressors of Muslims. Anti-police bigotry is pervasive in the area, as evidenced by this advertisement that was posted by an associate of the militant Islamist network in America on the Facebook page of the Majlis Ash Shura of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.”

The organization offered this poster as proof of the hostility:

“Our sources say that the mosque also emphasizes the teachings of Ibn Taymiyyah, a scholar who died in 1328 and is referenced by Islamist extremists and terrorists around the world to justify their views and violent actions,” according to the report.

Mosques are known as breeding grounds for Islamic extremism in the United States. One relevant example of radicalization through mosques in America is Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, the man who was arrested for running a jihadi training camp in New Mexico last year where the body of a three year old boy was found. Wahhaj also owned land where another alleged jihadi training camp was found in Alabama.

His father is Brooklyn Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombings, as well as Linda Sarsour’s self-proclaimed mentor and “favorite person.” Sarsour is a jihadist Palestinian activist who supports the Muslim Brotherhood and served as an organizer for the disgraced Women’s March.

In turn, Sarsour campaigned for Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has made quite the anti-Semitic splash herself since being elected to Congress. Last month, Omar called on her supporters to “eradicate the existence” of ICE officers.
