A former Google employee who alleges the tech giant deliberately designed algorithms to conceal its political bias by using artificial intelligence submitted documents the Department of Justice on Friday that he maintains will verify his claims.
The algorithms effectively target particular phrases and contexts to manipulate perceptions of internet content, according to 950 pages of documents the insider turned over to the DOJ’s Antitrust division.
The insider, who will be revealed by Project Veritas’s James O’Keefe on Wednesday, reportedly told investigative journalist Sarah Carter the evidence he provided the DOJ will irrefutably prove the monopolistic tech giant is manipulating its users political inclinations with its algorithms and details how it was done.
The average Google user has completely unaware they are being manipulated by the tech giant’s advanced IT systems, the insider told Carter.
“I honestly think that a free market can fix this issue,” he said. “The issue is that the free market has been distorted and what’s happened is that the distortion is so grotesque and the engineering is so repulsive, all we need to do is just expose what’s going on. People can hear that it is bad but that can be bias. But when they see what Google has actually written with the documents, this will actually be taught in universities of what totalitarian states can do with this type of capability.”
Public disclosure revealing the extent of Google will automatically prompt outrage amongst internet users, allowing the free market to rein in the monopolistic tech giant, the insider predicted.
“It will be so revolting that it doesn’t matter what the solution is, a solution will just form as a reaction to this manipulation they have done,”
In testimony before the House Judiciary Committee in Dec. 2018, Google CEO Sundar Pichai insisted the search engine wasn’t bias against conservatives, maintaining Google is “a company that provides platforms for diverse perspectives and opinions—and we have no shortage of them among our own employees.”
However, leaked video footage shows top executives declaring their intention to ensure that the rise of Trump and the populist movement is just a “blip” in history.
Google executives were also featured in a undercover video published by Project Veritas in June, admitting they skew its search engine results against Trump and his supporters.
Meanwhile, the White House is reportedly drafting an executive order addressing Big Tech censorship against conservatives.
“If the internet is going to be presented as this egalitarian platform and most of Twitter is liberal cesspools of venom, then at least the president wants some fairness in the system,” a White House official told Politico. “But look, we also think that social media plays a vital role. They have a vital role and an increasing responsibility to the culture that has helped make them so profitable and so prominent.”
Specifics of the executive order, such as how it would define bias at what penalties it would impose, remain unclear since the document has not yet been finalized.
