In a tweet on Friday, singer songwriter Kid Rock, whose legal name is Robert James Ritchie, suggested pop singer Taylor Swift was only a Democrat because she aspired to become a famous actress. Kid Rock added she would “suck the door knob off Hollywood to get there.” The hashtag #KidRock trended on Twitter shortly after his post.

Kid Rock was immediately attacked in comments under this tweet where users of the social media platform called him “unoriginal,” “sexist,” and “misogynistic,” among other vile words Taylor Swift defenders used to express their displeasure.

Swift skipped the Met Gala this year to spend time in London with her newest beaux, The Favourite actor Joe Alwyn instead. Swift was also photographed leaving a BAFTA Film Awards after party in February with Alwyn.

Cosmopolitan reported last fall that Swift was testing out her acting chops by joining the cast of the movie “CATS” in Britain. The movie is set to be released on December 20th, 2019 and will include Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, and late night host James Corden.

Swift wasn’t always so public about her political stance, but made it known just a month before the 2018 midterms when she endorsed Democrats for the Tennessee Legislature and called out Marsha Blackburn on Instagram. “She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples,” Swift wrote. “She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.”

Swift told Vogue during the 2016 election she would not endorse Hillary Clinton due to her feud at the time with rapper Kanye West and his wife reality star Kim Kardashian West. The singer added that her endorsement of Clinton as a candidate would make her a “liability.”

“Look, snakes of a feather flock together. Look, the two lying women. The two nasty women.’ Literally millions of people were telling me to disappear. So I disappeared. In many senses,” said Swift.

Kid Rock, on the other hand, has never remained silent when it comes to his political views. Rock has been an avid supporter of President Trump.

“I don’t like the hardcore views on either side and I’m not in bed with anybody,” he told Rolling Stone in 2013. “I’d probably be more libertarian, but I’m a firm believer you have to pick a side. I can’t be playing the middle.”

“I’m digging Trump. I feel like a lot of people, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, feel like if you get Hillary or Bernie, or you get Rubio or Cruz or whoever, there’s going to be the same shit. Has that much fucking changed when anyone’s in office, whether it’s been a Republican or a Democrat in office, in our lifetime, anyway? I haven’t really seen this big, like, fucking change. Obviously some people fucked up. [Laughs] That’s a long debate. My feeling: let the motherfucking business guy run it like a fucking business. And his campaign has been entertaining as shit,” Kid Rock said in an interview with Rolling Stone in February, 2016.

Swift is yet to respond to Kid Rock’s tweet.
