A man who stabbed four people to death and injured two others Wednesday has been taken into custody in Southern California.
“The 33-year-old Garden Grove man was taken into custody after he came out of a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana, southeast of Los Angeles, and dropped a knife along with a handgun that he had taken from a guard, police said,” according to Associated Press.
The identity of the perpetrator has not been released.
“We know this guy was full of anger and he harmed a lot of people tonight,” Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney reportedly said.
There were attacks at more than six locations over a two hour period in Garden Grove and Santa Ana, neighboring towns southeast of Los Angeles. Police confirmed that they have surveillance video of the suspect committing the alleged crimes, and that he and all his victims were Hispanic.
Two men were stabbed to death at a Garden Grove apartment after a confrontation with the suspect. He then reportedly robbed a bakery and an insurance business. No one was hurt at the bakery, but a man inside the insurance business was stabbed. He is expected to survive.
He then fled to a nearby check-cashing business, which he reportedly robbed, and then moved on to a Chevron gas station. He did not rob the gas station, but allegedly stabbed a man who was pumping gas in the back and face “for no reason.”
Shortly thereafter, police captured the suspect at a 7 Eleven. He was reportedly armed with a gun and the knife used in the attacks. Before police detained him, he reportedly stabbed a security guard multiple times.
Later, police found a Subway sandwich shop employee stabbed to death nearby. The suspect reportedly robbed the store.
“Detectives were interviewing the man and also expected to be at the various crime scenes through the night in order to collect evidence for a court case, Whitney said,” according to the report.
No official charges have been announced.
