An illegal alien living in Iowa has been arrested and charged in connection with a triple homicide.
“The man accused of murdering a mother and her two children in Des Moines claims the woman killed her kids and he only shot her in self-defense,” WHOTV said. “Marvin Escobar-Orellana is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. He made his first appearance in jail court Thursday morning in Polk County.”
According to the report, a witness disputes Escobar-Orellana’s account of the events, and claims that the illegal alien shot and killed all three family members “without justification” after an argument. Police say that ballistics evidence backs up the witness statement.
“Why are they charging me with three murders if I only defended myself from one person?” he reportedly asked the judge through an interpreter during his arraignment. He was instructed to ask his public defender about that. Both of those services – the interpreter and the legal defense – are provided at the expense of the American taxpayer, of course.
Escobar-Orellana reportedly rented out the lower floor of the home from the woman whom he allegedly killed.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that Escobar-Orellana had already been deported from the United States twice, and that he had been using the alias Marvin Oswaldo Esquivel-Lopez. He was convicted of illegal reentry in 2010. He is originally from Guatemala.
ICE has placed a detainer on Escobar-Orellana, meaning that he will be deported when his criminal matters are settled in the United States. If convicted of the murders, he will be deported in the event that he is ever released from prison.
