Less than one week before the Nevada primary, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo is feeling the heat and has sent a threatening legal letter to Infowars and a Las Vegas based PAC, accusing them of libel.

An article titled, “The Shady Business Dealings of Sheriff & Lombardo & His Secret Wife was recently published on InfoWars.com. It was written by independent journalist Lou Colagiovanni and backed by the 2 Shovels Political Action Committee, which is quickly making a name for itself in Nevada. The article detailed Sheriff Lombardo’s wife’s connection to William Gayler, who was found guilty of securities fraud, and following its release, Lombardo is demanding a complete retraction.

The threatening letter written on the letterhead of “Campbell and Williams” accuses Infowars and Colagiovanni of having “malicious intent” to libel Joe Lombardo and his wife Donna Alderson-Lombardo. While the article written by Colagiovanni may be unflattering, it is not libelous. The fact is, Donna Alderson-Lombardo, who is in the real estate business and is the current wife of Sheriff Joe Lombardo, did in fact have a longterm relationship with a man named William Gayler, who has been convicted of defrauding the elderly in Las Vegas of millions of dollars. It is true Donna Alderson-Lombardo has a son with William Gayler named Jackson Gayler. It is a fact Donna Alderson-Lombardo is named as the treasurer of B B & J Inc and that William Gayler is the president.

The letter itself is simply a scare tactic to silence independent media and journalists who are reporting the truth about Sheriff Lombardo, something the Las Vegas media has failed to do. His lawyer writes:

“Moreover, the outrageous allegation to the effect that Mrs. Alderson-Lombardo was involved in criminal activity in connection with the illegal actions of William Gayler are equally false and specious to the extreme.”

However, the article that was written by Colagiovanni and published by Infowars never stated Donna Alderson-Lombardo was involved in criminal activity. It merely pointed out her many connections to William Gayler’s massive criminal enterprise, which Colagiovanni postulated was a secret Joe Lombardo sought to keep from the public.

The letter continues:

“Your rancid claims that portray Sheriff and Mr.s Lombardo as co-conspirators in an active and ongoing attempt to conceal criminal activity constitute defamation per se.”

The article in no way says anything about Joe Lombardo concealing criminal activity. It says Joe Lombardo has been concealing his marriage to Donna Alderson-Lombardo because of her connection to William Gayler. And for good reason. During his time as Sheriff, Gayler was in Lombardo’s custody for a year in Clark County jail, while Gayler’s son lived in Lombardo’s home. Lombardo never mentioned any of this to the public. Regardless of what an expensive lawyer may be claiming, it certainly appears that Lombardo concealed this information from the public regarding his and his wife’s very personal connection to Gayler, a convicted felon.

Interestingly, the letter did not mention recently leaked audio that appears to be Sheriff Lombardo making an anti-black racist comment in reference to his daughter’s black ex-boyfriend. The audio, which quickly spread throughout social media, making its way to the Nevada political scene and LVMPD, was first released in a music video published by Colagiovanni’s 2 Shovels PAC.

Donald J. Campbell, who drafted the letter for Lombardo, is quick to make legal accusations, but paying attention to details is not his strong suit. While the first page of the letter is dated June 4, 2018, the top of the letter on the second page has a date of April 27, 2017.

In less than one week, on June 12, 2018, the people of Clark County, Nevada will be voting in the primary to either re-elect Lombardo, or vote him out. With an election on the horizon, Colagiovanni’s article doesn’t do Lombardo’s campaign any favors when it comes to convincing people to grant him another term.

Perhaps Sheriff Lombardo is getting spooked.
