On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that news organizations are now free to report on the redacted autopsies of the 58 people who were killed in the Las Vegas shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Now that the media ban has been lifted, you can view the autopsy reports here.

Tuesday’s ruling overruled a Nevada judge in Las Vegas who ordered The Las Vegas Review Journal and the Associated Press to not report on the autopsy results of LVMPD officer Charleston Hartfield,

who was reportedly off duty at the time of the shooting.

When the autopsies were initially released on January 30, 2018, Clark County District Judge Richard Scotti issued a court order to prevent news outlets from publishing the findings. The ruling by the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that Scotti’s order “does not pass constitutional muster” and was in violation of freedom of the press as granted by the First Amendment.

Tuesday’s ruling is a victory for the press and the American people in the battle that has ensued in Las Vegas among members of the media and law enforcement in an effort to provide the public with transparency regarding the Las Vegas shooting.
